George fails to see the "gift" he was given by getting his flat tire. Many people believe that "things happen for a reason". What are some examples from your personal experiences that fit this saying?
I'm sure there are several example for me, but the most recent one is getting attacked by the dog in Romania. While it was initially very scary having to wander around an unknown country without knowing more than 2 words of the language, i got to interact with people on a level that i otherwise wouldn't have been able to. I got to get the memorable ambulance ride in a foreign country (along bumpy, winding roads) and get a solid reminder of how nice and helpful people really are.
That is definitely a positive spin on a dog bite that resulted in rabbi shots! :) We have had many things "happen" in our family over the past year. We try to teach our kids, and remind ourselves, that things could have been worse and there have been many positive outcomes come from these "happenings".
