George is disappointed to see that Joy is not driving his bus on this particular morning. What has changed already in George that he is now upset not to see Joy, when earlier he found her to be off-putting?
I think George is already starting to think in a different way, he has changed his tune towards his life. I also think he was looking for positives and he actually was looking forward to seeing Joy and hearing what she had to say.
I agree with Kurt. I think George is disappointed because he's starting to rely on Joy to encourage him to be positive and teach him the ways of making this possible. Metaphorically, Joy is George's "fuel" right now for his energy bus.
I believe George has "hit bottom" and he realizes he needs to make changes in his life. Joy made him recognize the possibilities and gave him hope. He does not want to lose the things that are important to him and is ready to change.
I agree with Phyllis, that George has been in a rut of a routine and Joy has showed him that he needs to make changes before he loses the most important parts of his life. There are sometimes people in life that you become drawn to, even if you may not have been at first. Joy has become a positive light in George's day and he needs that positive force right now.
I agree with everyone so far. George doesn't have a lot of positive in his life, or at least he doesn't see the positive. Even though Joy's advice and information makes George realize his life is not that rosy, he wants to hear more. I think that he is realizing that even though his life is pretty messed up, Joy and her encouragement and words of wisdom can help him make the changes he needs to make.
