George is excited to see Joy back driving the bus, and somewhat to his surprise, he agrees to learn the 10 Rules for the Ride of Your Life while he waits for his car to be fixed. We meet some of the other passengers on the bus: Danny, the keeper of the rules, and Marty, the bus's research guy.
And we learn Rule #1--You're the driver of your bus. If you're not the driver, you'll be pulled in the direction of whomever you are letting drive. It is OK to be a passenger on someone else's bus, but you need to have your own direction, too (now that's deep!).
Joy hands George a piece of paper that asks him to answer the following:
- My vision for my life (including health):
- My vision for work, career, and job:
- My vision for my relationship and family:
George is asked to answer these questions before his next bus ride. Those these questions are somewhat personal, I invite you to share your answers, too. I'll start--check the comments section for my responses.
My vision for my life: To get back on a diet and exercise routine that helps me lose about 30 pounds. I did this about three years ago and I felt great. I failed to sustain the routine, and the results of that are obvious. I would really like to feel better and have more energy again!
ReplyDeleteMy vision for my career: To develop trusting relationships with all the staff and students of Sandusky Jr./Sr. High School. Once we have relationships, we can work on bigger goals related to student achievement.
My vision for my family: To not let the demands of my job supersede the needs of my family; to never lose sight of those who are most important in my life.
My vision for my life is similar to Steve's. I ran regularly and ate better about two years ago. I felt better, was healthier, and all my clothes fit better. I also think I was happier and more content with myself. I want to feel that way again. I have to remember that even though I am busy, taking time for myself can make me a better person, as well as a better wife, mother, and teacher.
ReplyDeleteMy vision for my career is to become a more effective teacher. I want to learn and try more strategies to help me reach my hard to reach students. I want to say that I have given it my all, which will result in my students succeeding.
My vision for my family is to take more time to enjoy them. I can't believe that I already have one child in college and one not far behind. I want to enjoy them while they are still around.
