We learn that George's career hinges on his ability to launch the marketing campaign for a new lightbulb, the NRG-2000. Use the NRG-2000 as a metaphor. What is your biggest challenge right now?
My personal NRG-2000 is leading our new Sandusky Jr./Sr. High School. I hope that I am on more solid ground, career-wise, than George seems to be. But I know the reality of my job is simple: if I don't produce, I will be replaced. I try not to dwell on this fact, but I'd be lying if I said I feel no stress about my long-term career prospects.
If you're comfortable, please share your own personal NRG-2000.
My biggest challenge at the moment is trying to stop focusing on myself and start directing my energy towards my students as I quickly approach my return date. For the past 3+ months I've put very little effort into my classes, and primarily focused on personal needs. However, I am beyond ready to get back to work. My personal NRG-2000 is re-establishing that fun, positive, high energy teacher that I've worked so hard to become. Right now I feel skeptical about this happening, but I also have hope that once I return and see those smiling faces I'll be able to pick up right from where I left off.
ReplyDeleteI feel like my biggest challenge right now is getting my students to participate and care about their education. I know that teaching 7th and 8th grade inherently causes this frustration, and that some of their lack of motivation is because of their age and maturity, but for some reason, I am feeling very frustrated by this this school year. I know that I have to find something that will motivate them, and I often feel like I am failing.
